Reasons to Remove Juices, Soda, and Alcohol from Your Diet

The debate as to which one between alcohol and soda is good for your health has been on for some time now. It turns out that neither of the two is totally healthy especially when you are trying to lose weight. Soda contains a high amount of concentrated sugars which only pile up in your body as fat deposits. Alcohol, on the other hand, has a high sugar and carbohydrates content and you know what that can do to you. That also is true for juices made of synthetic ingredients.

Here is the crux of the matter:

Soda and Juice

It has been established that soda contains certain ingredients such as caffeine, which make it highly addictive. Add in the high sugar content and you are likely to remain hooked for life if you start drinking soda at a young age. In fact, when you drink soda or juice, you are adding more sugar to your body than that from ice cream, candy, and cookies combined. Taking all that sugar into your body isn’t any different from poisoning yourself.

The reason for that is this. Although it gives you a high number of calories, soda and juice have no value when it comes to nutrition. When these calories get into your body, they pile up as fat deposits thus making you gain weight. That is besides leading to weight-related issues such as diabetes. Soda also has the effect of depleting your body of magnesium, calcium, and vitamin A. the body requires these ingredients for increased metabolism and a healthy weight loss.

It has also been established that soda and juice profoundly affect your taste buds. In a number of research studies, it has been found that soda has the effect of making you feel hungrier. It has a lot of artificial sweeteners which act as a signal to the brain to demand extra food. If you are trying to lose weight, this can only make it more difficult.

Alcohol

The amount of sugars and carbohydrates contained in alcohol has been found to be very high. But that doesn’t give alcohol any nutritional value. In fact, average alcohol drinkers are known to increase their calorie count by more than 2,000 per month. If you do the math, that is an additional 44,200 extra calories in just one year. With 3500 calories creating a pound of body fat that potentially leads up to almost 13 extra pounds annually.

The problem is that the energy from the alcohol comes in nothing more than empty calories. If anything, there are up to twice more calories in a gram of alcohol when you compare it to a gram of proteins or carbohydrates. These calories are converted into fats which makes you gain weight. Alcohol also is an appetite booster, which makes you eat more hence gaining a lot of weight.

The Healthy Alternative

While it is necessary to hydrate your body taking soda, juice, and alcohol doesn’t enable you achieve that goal. It is advisable that you increase your water, fruits, and vegetable intake. Another great alternative are diet and zero calorie beverages, such as Coke or Sprite Zero. These have a very little concentration of sugar on them.

Whatever you do, avoid alcohol, soda, and juices if you hope to maintain a healthy weight.
